5 diet cake recipes for slim sweet tooths

Not all people on the planet diet and lose weight. Some people, on the contrary, want to gain a couple of extra pounds, while others want to look the way they do now, without losing weight or gaining weight. Yes, in the end, even coaches sometimes want to drink a cup of tea for a reason, but as a snack with something sweet, but not very harmful. So today I decided to tell you about safe sweets, which can be enjoyed by people who are not on diets, children, as well as anyone who wants something tasty. So, what kind of sweets can you have? eat and at the same time know that they are practically harmless?

Now I want to emphasize the word “almost” (again for my own! It’s a bummer at every step, the article started normally =))))! Since today we will talk mainly about industrial sweets, and not about home-baked goods, it is worth understanding that the modern food industry today produces less than 5% of ABSOLUTELY safe sweets, the remaining 95% is divided in half into either very harmful or almost safe sweets .

And we will start our list with perhaps the safest and even healthiest sweet - honey.

HONEY

Honey is not a dietary product, but a safe sweet that was used long before sugar was invented!

A small historical digression.

Just 100 years ago, people didn’t even know what sugar was. And what? Tell me, until the twenty-first century there lived only fools? Archimedes, Newton, Mendeleev, and many other scientific minds somehow managed without sugar, and this did not stop them from making grandiose discoveries and inventions. If it were possible to submit their brains for examination (sorry for the blasphemy), then they would show 100% clarity, unlike the “glucose-syrup brains” of the modern generation, where every second person cannot live a day without sugar.

All this means that honey used to be sugar, candy, cookies, chocolate, and everything else you can think of. People got by with a maximum of 1 tbsp. honey a day, which served them as both a glucose boost for the brain and a pleasant bonus for tea. Therefore, answering the question of what sweets are possible , the answer is obvious - honey. But in order not to run into fakes and cheap fakes (yes, honey is faked too, don’t be surprised), I will give you some practical advice:

  1. Do not buy honey in supermarkets or resellers! “Where can I buy it?” - you ask. Try to find people who keep Passika themselves and produce honey at home, as they say “only for themselves, relatives and friends.” This is due to the fact that when producing honey on an industrial scale (for delivery to supermarkets, shops and markets), producers resort to various tricks. One of them is product substitution. Very often starch caramel molasses is sold under the guise of honey. The production of this molasses costs only 18-20 rubles per kilogram, and the cost of natural honey ranges from 500-700 rubles per kilogram! Do you feel where the dog is buried?
  2. Don't buy liquid honey in winter! This is due to the fact that honey tends to harden. Natural honey cannot remain liquid in winter, remember this! Only acacia honey has the property of remaining liquid for a long time; all other types of honey (buckwheat, sunflower, linden, etc.) begin to become sugary after 3-4 months, forming crystals of sucrose and fructose.

If the honey you bought remains liquid for a long time, this may be a sign that it has been heated. In general, according to GOST, honey can be heated, but be sure to follow these rules:

1) you need to heat ONLY in a water bath;

2) the temperature of the water bath should not be higher than 30 degrees.

Adhering to these conditions, all active enzymes and vitamins will be preserved in honey.

We've sorted out the honey. Go ahead. So, what other sweets can you have besides honey?

MARMALADE

The next safe sweet is marmalade. But not just any marmalade, but EXPENSIVE. The following rule applies to marmalade: the more expensive, the better! This is due to the fact that the most expensive substance in marmalade is the gelling agent (gelatin, pectin, agar agar, carrageenan and others). The more of this substance the manufacturer used when making marmalade, the denser and harder the consistency it will be. It is by this criterion that you can determine whether the marmalade in front of you is good and expensive or “so-so”.

Fig. 2 Composition of cheap marmalade

In addition to a small amount of a gelling agent, cheap, and therefore not very high-quality, marmalade will always contain some kind of preservative. In this case, it is sorbic acid . A preservative is added to increase the shelf life of the product, making it more competitive in the market.

ZEPHIR

Continuing the list of harmless and safe sweets , one cannot fail to mention marshmallows. Good marshmallows differ from all sweets in that they do not contain a single gram of fat; they consist of 80% carbohydrates.

  • Simple and complex carbohydrates: should you be afraid of them? Daily carbohydrate intake

Marshmallows are made from stabilized foam made from applesauce.

It happens something like this: sugar or fructose, food coloring (if you want to get colored marshmallows), vanillin or another flavoring additive, a stabilizer or a mixture of stabilizers are added to the puree. All this takes a very long time to form into a thick foam, which is then given the desired shape and dried under certain conditions.

It would seem like the PERFECT sweetness, wouldn’t it? Made from natural applesauce, agar agar, and guess what – they added a little sugar, no big deal. But not quite like that...

There are two news, one bad, one good. The bad news is that all the applesauce from which marshmallows are made is sulfated, that is, treated with the preservative sulfite. And, unfortunately, during the production of marshmallows there is no heat treatment, so this preservative remains in the marshmallow! And the good news, although it would be better to say “soothing,” is that sulfite has a very slightly toxic effect, and if you choose from all the store-bought sweets, marshmallows can be considered one of the safest and most harmless.

  • Safe and harmful food additives: synthetic versus natural. Part 2

So how do you choose safe marshmallows?

  1. It is better to choose white marshmallows, since colored marshmallows have added dyes, and whether they are natural or not, manufacturers do not always write about this on the packaging, so it is better to play it safe and immediately buy marshmallows that are as natural as possible.
  2. Don't buy chocolate marshmallows. All chocolate glaze is made from palm oil. You can read about the dangers of palm oil here.
  3. Marshmallows should not contain preservatives with the prefix “sorbate”: potassium/calcium/sodium sorbate and sorbic acid.

 CAUTION

Very often, marshmallows are equated with marshmallows, but this is a big misconception. Marshmallows always contain vegetable fat (palm oil, coconut oil or industrial margarine), but marshmallows do not (with the exception of marshmallows covered with chocolate glaze, where vegetable fat is contained in this glaze).
And another sweet that is confused with marshmallows is marshmallows. There is not, was not and cannot be any applesauce in this sweetness. This product is completely synthetic and is made from either molasses or corn/sugar syrup.

Therefore, if your child comes up to you in the supermarket and confronts you with the fact of what sweets he can eat among all those present on the shelves of the confectionery department , then you can safely buy him white marshmallows, which do not contain preservatives.

DRYING (BUBLICS)

Drying is considered a fairly safe sweet if it does not contain hydrogenated fat, namely:

- margarine;

- palm oil;

- coconut oil;

— hydrogenated vegetable oil/fat;

— special purpose fat;

- oils in hardened form.

When choosing dryers, be sure to look at the composition! This should be the first thing you do when you pick up a pack of dryers. You can only buy dryers that contain regular vegetable oil. Be very careful: not VEGETABLE FAT, but VEGETABLE OIL!

But, if you cannot find such drying products, then at least buy those with less than 2 g of fat per 100 g of product.

COOKIES “BABY CRISPS”

These cookies are far from being dietary, as their calorie content is more than 400 kcal per 100 g, but they are absolutely non-toxic. It contains only flour, sugar and eggs, nothing else, so if you choose between it and palm fat-based chocolates, it is better to choose these crunchies. At the very least, this will be the least “evil” of most industrial confectionery products on the market.
